Yield

Fissures in a fist form fingers
That holds the destiny of a family.
Power and struggles play tug of war.
Is it a war? A personal, violent war.

Gaps in teeth can be fixed
With wires, pain, and a lifetime.
Can gaps in communication also be fixed?
And the gaps within generations?

Years have passed. The pain has reaped yields.
A beautiful, manufactured smile sits on lips.
The inherited smile and teeth have been fixed.
They now skillfully hide what a child could not.

However, the words of love are still sitting, waiting to be told.
