January’24 Catch Up

Hello Bloggers,
How have you all been?

I am a little in disbelief, half of January is over and I am still struggling with the fact that 2024 has started. It is a leap year, which makes me oddly happy. Another day to waste/ contemplate life.

I have been okay, for the large part. Mostly I have given up on planning, and accepting that we have to go with the flow no matter what. Sometimes I think about how Devika from 4 years ago would react to Devika today. Maybe with some pride and love.

These last few years have been a lot of chaos and growing up. 20s is not an easy roller coaster ride. But we hold on, and let go- I guess. I will turn 27 this year. It feels like a lot.

While I look forward to accomplishing some long lost resolutions this year, I also look forward to writing. This blog will continue to be my safe space. If there is any writing style or challenge you all want me try, let me know in the comments below.

In the last few months, I worked on creating a couple of books that reflect this growth I have gone through. “Dreaming in a Fish Bowl” was a lot about the feeling of being trapped, while the world seemed to move on during the pandemic years. “Sun on my Hands” is a more mature take on how life goes on, and we experience emotions from what feels like a different lifetime.

It would mean the world to me if you take out time to read these books, and share your thoughts with me and the world! As someone who is just starting on this journey, this support really means a lot.

Share these pieces of emotions with your loved ones, and peak into the life of a young confused girl who is still learning to navigate this human jungle!

Not mine

This desperation to bring the sky down.

My nails drag across the horizon,

Till this blue slips and pools at my feet

My folded knees sit heavy

On a ground that does not sit still

These clouds and the sun don’t feel like my own

Tonight, the moon didn’t talk back to me

Unlike every other night

The stars came out, but they didn’t show me their smile

My love is here, but at this moment

It is not mine.

Love and Life

•

I bloom in love for a lot many-

Life is good, I realise.

•

Is there a limit to one’s capacity

To give love, and take it too?

For just giving is never the way,

Or just taking it, too.

There are friends-

Who understand thoughts better than mere words can explain

There is family-

Whose blood run in your veins and habits from years before dance in your system

Then, there are some people-

Whom you have loved more than you should have, or less than you should have

The scary what ifs always linger.

But, that’s life I guess.

Maybe there will be a someone

Whom I can give my dedicated love to

Or if there is no one-

A compromised love will have to do, I guess.

That’s life too- full of guesses and uncertain certainties.

What is time?

•
A mouth full of tea
Torn pages in front of me
Words on lovers and sons
An old tree with young red leaves.
A friend whose mind refuses to sleep
A friend who is disturbed, she thinks she is weak
A sister who is always in my head
A plant which is losing its leaves with regret
A boy who is forcing himself into my mind
A line which is forming into a drawing
In months, a life forms in a body like mine
Ten fingers, ten toes and a thousand cries
We grow, on pages, in words
And name this phenomenon
As ambiguous Time.
