February’24 Catch Up

Hello Bloggers,
How have you all been?

With winter folding and sweaters resting more in cupboards than on my sleeves, I finally feel happy. No matter how sufferable the heat and humidity gets, summer has always been my season.

Although, it will be prudent to revisit this thought at the peak of summer months.

Right now, the weather feels just about perfect. There is finally some sun, some wind, beautiful clouds- although the beautiful sunsets are missing. I would have loved some storms but we will do without them I guess. I love the sound of thunder.

I am already a lot behind on my so called resolutions- even though it is a pity to even call it that. But still, 10.5 months of this year are left. Too many months to lose optimism on them just yet. Anyway, the month of January feels like a trial month to me.

We had the new moon a few days back, which means now the moon is a lovely crescent that is easy to miss, but so beautiful if you do catch it.

For writing promtps, you can leave them for me in the comments, and I will try to pick them up in the next few days!

In the last few months, I worked on creating a couple of books that reflect this growth I have gone through. “Dreaming in a Fish Bowl” was a lot about the feeling of being trapped, while the world seemed to move on during the pandemic years. “Sun on my Hands” is a more mature take on how life goes on, and we experience emotions from what feels like a different lifetime.

It would mean the world to me if you take out time to read these books, and share your thoughts with me and the world! As someone who is just starting on this journey, this support really means a lot.

Wild Fantasy

Mountains sway to rain clouds.
Trees stand strong.
Nothing can uproot them.
Sky at their feet, or roots.
Thunder cracks at night.
Thunder cracks with the sun.

There is too much to see.

A 2-inch flower stands tall
Among the 293 ft mountains.
Earth hugging the plant with all its might.

Upside down in a puddle.
You can see the Lord reflecting in the petals.
It stands there

More real and true than a structure that exists 467 miles away.
The sun is false. The clouds are false.
Wind on my face is false.

The only thing that feels true is the tiny ant
Holding violently to a small leaf.
The only black spot in this world of endless light.
Blinding white.

Walls have Holes

Walls have holes.
Eyes peek and mouths speak.
No secret is untold.

Each house is unstable as families stretch
Far and wide and close
So close.
Hands are tied. Eyes are blinded.
But mouths speak, they always do.

Walls are sieves.
Cooked rice and steam rise upwards as hot water flows down.
In spirals, then drops.

I look up from my match box room.
Towards a moon that is a new moon.
Bleeding words fall from my mouth.
It always doesn’t speak.

I wonder where walls separate
Because mine are towers at this point
And I always dream of eyes staring.
Black blue eyes.

I like eating rice for dinner.

Green Spine

My spine is green in colour.
Its shape and size, recorded in scans.
I look at it sometimes.
Everything is mapped in the world.
All patterns are figured into diagrams.
Latitudes, longitudes, minutes, seconds
What of moments that skip time?
That single glance, small smile. An understanding in an instant-
Your life is going to change.
My house plants don’t follow the coordinates of the human mind.
Cutting through lines, they grow in the shape of thoughts.
My own spine is straight as it seats on-
Office chair, restaurant chair, airplane seat.

Can we slouch today?
