All the memories of my childhood
I could fit in a square suitcase
They are light, airy, breezy
Of plays and innocence and childish fights
Alphabets, first poems, lessons on addition
Sisters, brothers, races and mud
Swings that could always go higher
Slides that would never end.

All memories of my teenage years
I could fit inside circle bags
Keep playing them on loop
Boys, insecurities, poison, smoke
Changing bodies, growing personalities
Friends, bullies, jokes, school
Lessons on trigonometry, Hitler, loans, wars
A taste of alcohol and life.
β’
All the memories of the past three years
I carry within me
Heavy, stones on my chest.
Of loss, tears, changes
Permanence and adjusting faces
New, old, love, friends
Office, college, challenges
Growing alone, becoming me.
β’
So many memories
Sometimes I feel they will overflow
From my eyes and skin.
