Start

The sky is swelling with clouds
And colours. It is a white day today.
The roads are damp still from the previous shower.
People and dogs are shaking their fur
Umbrellas. We never tire to move on
Even if the world falls. The sky is falling right in front of my window.
Everything begins and ends right here.
A point.
The world. Horizon. Roads.
My house plants are confused, they don’t know what to do with the additional water
Collecting in the pots. They miss the sun.
I am not sure what or whom I love or miss anymore.
The walls of my room are swelling with damp
It feels like the water is ready to enter my fist-sized world
From all sides.
Wave upon wave, day upon day.
Rain collects in clouds and finally,
It falls. Irrespective of what is going on in your mind.
My room. And life.

9:45 AM to 6:10 PM

I wonder how buildings stand so tall and proud.
I can feel my neck and spine change shape throughout the day
A question mark?
An exclamation point!
A full stop.
(I curl into myself for some psychological warmth)
The cold ACs talk nonstop, their voice has become familiar
Plants in this office are more alive than people
As my friend 6 states away says- this world feels 2D.
And I am a walking 2 line drawing put together-
Eyes bigger than my head
Head bigger than my legs
Hands two needle sticks by the side-
Fit for typing and meticulous washing.
(It is the only body part I can truly control).

Unaware

Newspapers are printing blank.
White ink on white paper.
Gospel truths of humanity spilled.
But no one can read. No one cares to read.
We switch to blue screens for meaning.
Reels, filters, and coloured faces
Distort a reality that is already dystopian.
Wars, hunger, and heat waves take a back seat.

Each day, a dull day, we are pulled into
Rivers of traffic jams.
Crowds and machines sitting suspended.
We depend on the sanity of all drivers to live-
Cars ahead and cars behind.
I wonder what faith keeps us intact.

A blank mind and many blank words sit on my shoulders.
The world is still spinning.
Humanity is churning stories faster than anyone can comprehend.

I am okay with being unaware for now.

Small Pockets

Sometimes I think,
Love comes in small pockets.
Small enough to hold buttons
Button brown eyes, lazy and playful.
Small enough to hold vials of honey
Honey words that have been whispered in between kisses.
Small enough to hold flowers
Yellow painted flowers and pink ones littered on the road.
Small enough to hold a few coins
Coins for a smoke, and a little cup of icecream.
Small enough to hold a few seconds,
Just for a while, as time pauses.
Hitched on a breath-
I reach for a little something
In your pocket
And in mine.
