Sweet nothings

The wind in my hair

Having discovered a friendship rare

Sitting on a bench in the park

The peace I find in the dark
These are not everything,
But the sweet nothings

Wearing your favourite socks
The tick tock of the clock
A warm sweet hug
Drinking coffee from your favourite mug
These are not everything,
But the sweet nothings

The dance of dust in the sun’s rays
The happy ending of weekdays
Reading a meaningful book
Sharing a joke in a single look
These are not everything,
But the sweet nothings

Finding your long lost favourite pen
Remembering the games you played when you were ten
A pretty card made
Watching the sunlight fade
These are not everything,
But the sweet nothings

The sparkling lake in the morning light
An unexpected increase in height
Getting a great compliment
Defeating a strong competent
These are not everything,
But the sweet nothings

Often ignored in the day’s rush
But each day is made special
By these sweet nothings.

      1. This summer hasn’t been quite as productive as I’ve wanted it to be, but I’m attempting to make something of it. For example, I’m revising some poems and sending them off to be published — but…we’ll see. ^_^

How have things been for you? Your recent posts have been fun to follow.

      2. That seems like a great idea! Maybe I’ll do so as well. 😛
Although I’m scared of rejection. Plus most of my poems have been updated on the blog. Don’t know if they’ll be accepted for publication.

I’ve been doing good. My summers weren’t that productive either. But I’m trying not to think of it too much.

I hope you have a good day! Thanks for stopping by.

      3. You should! I like the writing published here a lot, and I think it would have a lot of potential elsewhere — given that it weren’t already published, of course. One of the timeliest parts of the process however, isn’t writing the poems themselves, but finding the right magazine, issue, etc. At least that’s been my experience thus far.
        Anyhow, happy writing.
        Cheers!
